02.25.09 Google Keyword Tools You Need To Succeed  By
Jaan Kanellis I just wanted to remind everyone that Google provides some awesome tools for us to use FREE. The data in each of these is fabulous and should be part of any keyword development tool box. I have done write-ups on all three before and included links to them and the announcement blog posts from Google themselves. Enjoy! 1. Google Insights for Search The tool kind of consolidates Google Trends, with related/rising searches search tool. There is some cool geographic based tools you need to review when you have some time. For instance you can enter a keyword and see a map of the US and see graphical, how popular that keyword is. The numbers throughout the tool are scaled and normalized. So the term you enter is compared to all Google searches using the scale of 1-100. So if your keyword is a 85 on this scale then that is a pretty darn popular keyword. Google Search-based Keyword Tool This tool is great for those that use AdWords. It can help you find keywords that people are searching for that you're not bidding on, that are relevant to your pages. It really does wonders in finding keywords that are bargains for your AdWords account. 3. Google AdWords Tools (Public) Well pretty much the mother of all keyword tools. You can find search volume data for any keyword that your interested in. Google Announcement: Keyword Tool updated with search volume data My previous write-up:Google AdWords Tool Offers Search Volume Numbers Now I do use WordTracker to help with my keyword development as it has some nice tools to help organize your keyword lists as well as ensure I am picking keywords that get good volume of traffic. So I would recommend using at least 1-2 other keyword tool(s) (Keyword Discovery being another) to help you validate which keywords should be in your list.
