The Miami Herald Drops Identity Demand Against Yahoo

A demand issued to Yahoo by the Miami Herald has been dropped. The Herald made the demand after receiving insulting emails originating from Yahoo's email service. The emails were sent to Herald employees and made disparaging remarks about their bosses.
According to the AP, the Miami Herald filed for the demand to be dropped on June 25, 2004. Herald attorney Robert Beatty declined to comment on whether or not the news company had learned the names of the guilty parties. However, Beatty did say, "We're very satisfied with the outcome. The matter is over."
Since filing the petition, no further emails have been received. The mailings were sent between January 2002 and last March. Yahoo's email policy does not allow for the release of member information without their approval, unless Yahoo receives a court order to do so.
Yahoo had no comment on the issue.
