The United Kingdom has become the latest country to receive benefits from an upgrade being offered by Google search.

Following closely on the heels of the US launch, Google has announced the United Kingdom will now have access to Google's Local Mobile Search service. The upgrade gives users in the UK the ability to perform Google local searches by simply using their mobile phone.

Not only can mobile users search for local businesses and interests, they can also receive driving directions to any destination they query. Like the US version of the service, UK users have to navigate to http://mobile.google.co.uk/ using their phone's internal browser. Once there, they can search to their heart's content. The service is free from Google's end, however, there may be assorted charges applied by the user's mobile service provider.
